Did you know that over 140 Ralph Allen students take extracurricular instrumental music tuition? We are proud to have so many talented and ambitious young musicians taking the opportunity to experience the specialist tuition provided by the BANES music service.

Tuition is available on an individual basis or in a group of 2 or 3 students of a similar ability. The current costs are:
| 10 individual 30 minute lessons | £140 (every two terms) |
| 10 group 30 minute lessons | £95 (every two terms) |
Music lessons are timetabled during the school day and structured around a rotation system so that students do not miss the same curriculum lesson every week. Due to the popularity of some instruments lessons often take place during lunchtime or after school.

New Terms of Payment 2009-2010
Due to the year on year increasing popularity of our in house music tuition there will be a change to the way you pay. The coming school year 2009-2010 will see a relaunch of the management of the service in order that sustainable growth may be achieved and that increased opportunities for our young musicians are made possible.
We would like to bring to parents'/carers' attention the changes to the procedure for fees payment and cancellation terms. These are clearly outlined on the New Information - Music Tuition 2009 - 2010 application letter (please see link at the bottom of this page), which was sent to all current music tuition participants on 26th May 2009.
The system of post-dated cheques will no longer be in place; instead the school will request pre-payment for 2 terms at a time as Ralph Allen book and pay for instrumental tutors well in advance of the students' lessons. From now on failure to pre-pay will mean that we are unable to timetable lessons for your son/daughter. The tighter payment process is to safeguard our students' opportunities. Clearer finances mean more students can take tuition, and a pre-payment service ensures that funding can support performance and community opportunities for the young musicians. The parents of all students currently receiving tuition have been sent full details of the changes in the post. Information will also be regularly updated on this page. We thank you for your anticipated support through this time of necessary change.

Cancellation Terms
Ralph Allen School is changing the procedure of fee payment for music tuition, as outlined in the New information application letter sent on 26th May 2009 (see link below). The new procedure is to work in compliance with the advance music tuition pre-booking contract with the B&NES Music Service. The service we currently provide is running at a financial loss and to make it viable and to run effectively for all we have to set the deadlines for cancellation of lessons alongside the new pre-payment booking deadlines.
